Job Description
I’m putting together a colouring book aimed at South African tweens (8–12) and need lively, cartoonish line-art that invites them to grab their pencils straight away. Every page should celebrate local culture through these main lenses: How South Africa kids play in the township with makeshift toys , the environment of a normal South African township, the vibrancy of traditional clothing and dance, and the character of our historical landmarks and buildings. Think swirling skirts at a Zulu dance, a Xhosa umbhaco pattern ready for colour, or a playful street view of the Castle of Good Hope—kept simple enough for this age group, yet detailed enough to hold their interest. To print cleanly, each illustration must be a black-line drawing on A4 (portrait), 300 dpi minimum. Areas should stay open for colouring—no grey fills or heavy shading—and I’d like a small caption box at the bottom of every page so I can add fun facts later. Please supply: • Individual illustration files (PNG/TIFF or vector) • A single compiled PDF in final page order • The editable source files (AI, PSD or SVG) When you respond, show a sample or portfolio link featuring a similar cartoon-fun style. Also mention how many pages you can tackle, your turnaround time, and any scene ideas you’re excited about. The goal is a book that lets kids explore South Africa’s heritage with every crayon stroke, so creativity and cultural sensitivity are both essential.
