Job Description & Project Requirements
Location: Singapore, <strong>Area: Editing and Academic Publishing<br><br></strong>MDPI is the largest open access publisher in the world, with over 400 journals across a wide range of disciplines. Our mission is to foster open science and scientific exchange by delivering high-quality peer-reviewed research to scholars around the globe. The English Editing Department works to ensure that all of MDPIâs manuscripts are published with clarity, consistency, and grammatical accuracy.<br><br><strong>The Role: English Editor<br><br></strong>We are looking for meticulous and dedicated individuals with a strong grasp of the English language and the nuances of academic writing to support scholars publishing their research. English Editors support academic research by editing the language of peer-reviewed papers to a publication-ready standard.<br><br><strong>This is a full-time, in-office, entry-level position based in Singapore</strong>. Successful applicants undergo a probation period in which in-house training is provided by an experienced editor, after which there are opportunities to diversify the role and gain expertise in new areas.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Edit scholarly articles submitted to MDPI journals to a publication-ready standard. </li><li>Apply knowledge of the English language and the context of the manuscript to make the English clear, consistent, and grammatically correct, communicating the authorâs message without changing their voice unnecessarily. </li><li>Ensure manuscripts align with MDPIâs house rules.</li><li>Meet tight deadlines and hit targets with a high degree of consistency. </li><li>Take on additional roles, such as training colleagues within and outside of the department and editing corporate material.</li><li>Cooperate with the Editorial and Production teams in the editorial process.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Experience And Skills<br><br></strong>Essential criteria:<br><br><ul><li>A bachelorâs degree in any subject.</li><li>Expert knowledge of the English language.</li><li>Experience in editing, translating, or publishing.</li><li>Excellent time management and organisation skills.</li><li>High attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to work both independently and as part of an international team.</li><li>Right to work in Singapore.<br><br></li></ul>Desirable skills and experience:<br><br><ul><li>Professional experience in academic research, editing, or publishing.</li><li>Familiarity with LaTeX.</li><li>Experience working in an office environment. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Benefits<br><br></strong><ul><li>Training and Bonuses</li><ul><li>Focused in-house training in editing scholarly content according to MDPIâs conventions by experienced editors.</li><li>Performance-based quarterly bonuses.</li><li>Clear progression pathways.</li></ul><li>Competitive Leave Packages<br></li></ul><strong>What we offer:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Professional and personal development </li><li>International work environment </li><li>Flexible working hours in the limits of a full-time job </li><li>Competitive salary, benefits<br><br></li></ul><strong>Application Process<br><br></strong>Candidates must submit their CV and cover letter.
