Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer

Location: Hamburg <p>We are looking for a <strong>Senior Infrastructure Automation / DevSecOps Engineer</strong> to support the further development and automation of an existing vulnerability management platform for a public-sector client in Germany.</p> <p>The role focuses on <strong>Infrastructure as Code, Linux automation, virtual machine provisioning, API integrations, security, and infrastructure connectivity</strong>.</p> <p>You will work closely with existing infrastructure and operations teams to further develop the automation environment and ensure reliable, secure, and well-documented infrastructure.</p> <h2>Tasks</h2> <ul> <li>Take over and validate technical infrastructure specifications</li> <li>Further develop and maintain the <strong>Infrastructure as Code (IaC)</strong> environment</li> <li>Create and maintain <strong>Linux images and configurations</strong></li> <li>Automate virtual machine provisioning using <strong>Terraform</strong></li> <li>Integrate existing <strong>Vault and credential management</strong> processes</li> <li>Develop <strong>REST API integrations and automation scripts</strong></li> <li>Perform network integration and connectivity testing</li> <li>Carry out functional, performance, and security testing</li> <li>Produce technical documentation and support the handover to operations</li> </ul> <h2>Requirements</h2> <ul> <li>Strong hands-on experience with <strong>Proxmox</strong></li> <li>Strong experience with <strong>Terraform</strong></li> <li>Experience with <strong>Ansible</strong></li> <li>Strong Linux experience, particularly <strong>Ubuntu and/or RHEL</strong></li> <li>Programming and scripting experience with <strong>Python and Bash</strong></li> <li>Experience working with <strong>REST APIs</strong></li> <li>Solid networking knowledge, including:</li> <li>VLAN</li> <li>Routing</li> <li>Multi-NIC environments</li> <li>MTU</li> <li>Experience with <strong>Git</strong></li> <li>Knowledge of <strong>security hardening, RBAC, and secrets management</strong></li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice to Have</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>HashiCorp Vault Enterprise</strong></li> <li><strong>Packer</strong></li> <li><strong>GitLab CI/CD</strong></li> <li>PAM and credential management</li> <li>ITIL knowledge</li> <li>Certifications such as <strong>RHCSA, RHCE, Terraform Associate</strong>, or equivalent</li> </ul> <p><strong>Important Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Fluent German</strong>, as German is the project language</li> <li>Willingness to undergo <strong>Sü2 security clearance</strong> at the start of the engagement</li> <li>Availability from <strong>September 2026</strong></li> <li>Willingness to attend approximately <strong>2–3 on-site appointments per year</strong></li> </ul> <h2>Benefits</h2> <ul> <li><strong>12-month contract</strong> with a long-term project perspective</li> <li><strong>100% remote</strong> working model</li> <li>Only occasional on-site appointments</li> <li>Work on an infrastructure automation and DevSecOps project within the <strong>German public sector</strong></li> <li>Opportunity to work with technologies including <strong>Proxmox, Terraform, Ansible, Linux, Vault, and Infrastructure as Code</strong></li> </ul> <p><strong>Interested in the opportunity?</strong></p> <p>If you're an experienced Infrastructure Automation or DevSecOps Engineer looking for a long-term engagement, we'd be happy to hear from you.
