Job Description

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's general ledger. This role involves a wide range of accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and analysis. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Journal Entries:
    • Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions, including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.
    • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
  • Account Reconciliations:
    • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory.
    • Analyze and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Financial Statement Preparation:
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Prepare supporting schedules and work papers for financial statements.
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends and anomalies.
    • Prepare variance analysis reports and investigate significant fluctuations.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Assist in the maintenance of internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
    • Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and procedures.
  • Other Duties:
    • Assist with audits and tax filings as needed.
    • Special projects as assigned.
